Angela Evelyn Bassett has been an American actor since the late 1980s. Her work has been recognized for film and television since the late 1980s she's been awarded numerous awards such as two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was born living in Winston-Salem North Carolina, raised by her aunt in New York New York. The mother of Bassett had divorced from her father at around five. Her younger sister then went into St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett, while in high-school was a fan of John Steinbeck's play Of Mice and Men with James Earl Jones and she decided to become an actress. In the year 1980, Bassett completed her studies at Yale University New Haven Connecticut with the degree of African American studies. She also received a degree from the Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance met her at Yale, and in 1997 they tied the knot. Qualification: B.A. degree in African-American studies in 1980. Masters in Fine Arts degree from the Yale School of Drama School: Jordan Park Elementary School Disston Middle School (seventh grade) Azalea Middle School (eighth and ninth grade) Boca Ciega High School.
