Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actor, is well-known for her work in film and television since the late 1980s. Bassett, her sister, and their mother moved from the city of Winston-Salem to St. Petersburg Florida when Bassett was 5 years old. Their father separated from their mom. Bassett was in high school and watched John Steinbeck's production Of Mice and Men with James Earl Jones and she made the decision to pursue acting.
