Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15th, 1961) is an American actress. She has been recognized for her film and TV performance since the 1980s. The awards she has won include two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett, who was raised in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt following her birth at New York New York, is well-known as an actor. Bassett relocated with her twin sister in St. Petersburg Florida at age five in order to be near their mother and father, who had separated from her father. Bassett was in high school when she saw the James Earl Jones staring John Steinbeck play Of Mice and Men and was aware that her goal of becoming an actor had been realized. Yale University New Haven Connecticut granted her a bachelor's degree (1980) which was in African American study, and a graduate degree (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. In 1997, she got married to Courtney B. Vance who was also an actor. Qualification: B.A. degree in African-American studies in 1981. Graduate in Fine Arts from Yale School of Drama School.
